Recent research suggests that there may be an association between oral infections and poorly controlled diabetes, cardiovascular disease and preterm birth. If you have diabetes, you’re already at increased risk of developing gum disease. But chronic gum disease may, in fact, make diabetes more difficult to control, as well.
LANAP is a procedure used to treat periodontal disease. Any case of periodontal disease that would be treated by conventional periodontal surgery is a candidate for treatment by the LANAP procedure. It is minimally invasive, and the laser finds and selectively treats infected tissue.
There are two type of dental implants on the market today, ceramic and titanium implants. Ceramic implants have been used in our practice for about five years at this point.
