Tooth Removal and Socket Grafting

As a periodontist, Dr. Farber is committed to saving your teeth whenever possible. There are some situations, however, when it is necessary to extract a tooth.

Site Development

When a tooth is extracted it is often recommended that a dental implant be used to replace the missing tooth. The process of removing a tooth and preparing the site for a dental implant is called "site preservation".

Bone Grafting and Guided Bone Regeneration

Bone can be lost over time due to periodontal disease or due to missing teeth, because the jawbone associated with missing teeth atrophies or is reabsorbed. The result is often poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants.
